Nara

Nara, the former capital of Japan from 710 to 794 and one of the Heisei 100 landscapes, is today a famous city among travelers for at least one reason: the numerous sika deers wandering freely around. And the Kansai city is home of surprisingly many historical ancient temples, regarding to its surface. But if the last are definitely safe, the former – being a wild animal – must be approached with caution

How to get there?

In the heart of Kansai, Nara is easy to reach from both Kyoto and Osaka, and is a convenient day-trip from the two cities.

From Tokyo, one must first reach Kyoto (using the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen for example) and continue its journey with local trains (as the Kintetsu-Kyoto line, about one hour). The closest station from Nara park and the main temples is Kintetsu-Nara (Tokyo-Nara, about 3:25 hours and 14530 yen).

Renting bikes is then a great option to enjoy Nara.
